***MEDIA ADVISORY*** Gardner to Introduce Judge Neil Gorsuch, Supreme Court Nominee, at Confirmation Hearing
Washington, D.C. – Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO) today announced that he will introduce Judge Neil Gorsuch when he appears before the Judiciary Committee for a hearing on his nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court. It is customary for home-state Senators to introduce a nominee to the Committee at the outset of his or her confirmation hearing.
“I am honored to introduce Supreme Court Nominee Judge Neil Gorsuch before the Judiciary Committee at the beginning of his confirmation hearing,” said Gardner. “A fellow Coloradan, Judge Gorsuch is an exceptional jurist who will bring a Western perspective to the Supreme Court. I enthusiastically support his nomination and I look forward to introducing him at his upcoming hearing.”
During Gorsuch’s 2006 confirmation process to the Tenth Circuit, Colorado’s senators praised Neil Gorsuch on the Senate floor:
Senator Wayne Allard said, “From my conversations with Mr. Gorsuch, I am certain he recognizes the proper role of the judiciary . . . I believe Mr. Gorsuch is temperamentally and intellectually inclined to stick to the facts and the law in cases that would come before him and that he would refrain from legislating from the bench.”
Senator Ken Salazar added, “[A] judicial nominee should have a demonstrated dedication to fairness, impartiality, precedent, and the avoidance of judicial activism—from both the left and the right. I believe that Mr. Gorsuch meets this very high test—and I believe he will make a fine addition to the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.”
