Gardner Votes to Recommend Wilbur Ross as Secretary of Commerce, Secretary Elaine Chao as Secretary of Transportation

Washington, DC – Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO), a member of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, today released the below statements after voting in favor of recommending Wilbur Ross as Secretary of Commerce and Secretary Elaine Chao as Secretary of Transportation:

On Wilbur Ross as Secretary of Commerce:

“Mr. Ross has decades of experience in the private sector and a firm grasp on how to grow our economy and our workforce. When I met with Mr. Ross, I spoke about the importance of rural economic development, the necessity of making more federal spectrum holdings available for commercial use, and the need to increase American exports through a robust trade agenda. Mr. Ross understands that we must deliver relief to Main Street towns across the country, and I’m confident that his extensive experience will guide his efforts to strengthen our economy and increase opportunities for Americans everywhere.”

On Secretary Elaine Chao as Secretary of the Department of Transportation:

“Previously Secretary of Labor and Deputy Secretary of Transportation, Secretary Chao has significant administration experience and a long record of public service. She recognizes how critical it is that we modernize and invest in our infrastructure in order to grow our economy in Colorado and boost communities throughout the country. Secretary Chao is committed to working toward innovative funding solutions for transportation projects, and I’m supportive of her approach to improving our transportation system.”
