Gardner Votes to Recommend Rex Tillerson as Secretary of State
Washington, DC – The Senate Foreign Relations Committee today recommended the Senate confirm Rex Tillerson as Secretary of State. A member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO) voted in favor of Rex Tillerson’s nomination.
“During his confirmation hearing, Mr. Tillerson communicated that he would be tough on Russia, stand up to China’s aggression in the South China Sea, and continue to pursue sanctions against North Korea, including full enforcement of my North Korea Policy Sanctions and Policy Enhancement Act,” said Gardner. “Mr. Tillerson recognizes that years of failed foreign policy requires a new direction of strength toward our adversaries and bolstered support for our allies, and I was pleased the Foreign Relations Committee recommended his confirmation.”
Cory Gardner is a member of the U.S. Senate serving Colorado. He sits on the Energy & Natural Resources Committee, the Foreign Relations Committee, the Commerce, Science, & Transportation Committee, and the Budget Committee, and is the Chairman of the Subcommittee on East Asia, the Pacific, and International Cybersecurity Policy.
