Gardner Votes to Confirm Sonny Perdue as Secretary of Agriculture

Washington, D.C. – Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO) today released the below statement after voting in favor of confirming Sonny Perdue as Secretary of Agriculture:

“It was an honor to vote in support of Governor Perdue’s confirmation to be Secretary of Agriculture. Like me, Governor Perdue grew up in a rural agriculture community and understands the challenges facing our nation’s farmers and ranchers and I believe he is an excellent choice to lead the Department of Agriculture. I look forward to working with him to review and reform burdensome rules and regulations negatively impacting Colorado’s agriculture industry while looking at existing Farm Bill programs to ensure they are meeting the needs of our farmers and ranchers across the state. Earlier this year, I had the opportunity meet with him to discuss how we can work together to support rural communities and properly manage our nation’s forests and I am confident in his leadership to get the job done.

“Our nation’s agriculture crisis is only getting more challenging and we need a strong agriculture champion at the Department. Sonny Perdue is that champion and together we can bring relief to Colorado’s farmers.”
