Gardner Votes to Confirm Dr. Mark Esper as Secretary of Defense
Washington, D.C. – Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO) released the following statement today after the U.S. Senate voted 90-8 to confirm Dr. Mark Esper as Secretary of Defense.
“The federal government has no single greater responsibility than protecting and defending the United States of America,” said Senator Gardner. “Dr. Esper has served our country with valor and I was honored to meet with him in Colorado Springs to discuss Colorado’s critical role in our national defense. I’m confident he has the experience, qualifications, and ability to provide stable leadership at the Department of Defense. I congratulate Dr. Esper on his confirmation and wish him well in his mission to keep the American people safe and secure.”
