Gardner Statement on Socialized Medicine Plan

Washington, DC – Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO) released the following statement following the introduction of Senator Bernie Sanders’ socialized medicine plan:

“The Bernie Sanders socialized medicine plan is not the answer to fix our broken healthcare system,” said Gardner. “Year after year, Coloradans are forced to reckon with rising insurance premiums and fewer choices and anyone who thinks a government takeover of our healthcare system is the answer is not serious about finding real solutions for the American people. The Obamacare markets have proven to be a failure in states across the country, including Colorado, and it is not reasonable to think more government is the solution. I’m concerned that if we are already struggling to afford a Medicare program that our seniors rely on, a Medicare-for-all system will result in even less resources for the seniors who the program was originally designed to protect. I will continue to work in a bipartisan fashion and fight for market reforms that will increase choices, lower costs, and result in affordable health insurance for Coloradans.”
