Gardner Statement on Obamacare Premium Increases

Washington, DC – Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO) released the below statement after the Obama Administration announced monthly premiums for mid-level health plans sold on the federal exchange will increase by 25 percent, the sharpest hike on the federal exchange since the President’s signature health care policy was signed into law.

“It’s troubling that Americans throughout the country are once again facing a massive premium increase, and this time they’re forced to swallow the sharpest hike yet. Obamacare was sold to the country on the premise of its affordability, however, this announcement is further evidence that this misguided law is anything but affordable,” said Gardner. “The rise in the cost of monthly premiums will have a visible, significant negative impact on the individuals and families who rely on the federal exchange for health care. That’s why it’s far past time to institute health care solutions that will be effective in preserving choice and keeping down costs.”
