Gardner Statement on Independence Day

Washington, DC – Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO) today released the below statement marking Independence Day:

“The Fourth of July is an opportunity to reflect on the bitter cold December night in 1776 when the Continental Army did what many at the time believed was impossible: advance across the Delaware River and win the war for American Independence. It’s a reminder of all of the sacrifices of our Founders as well as the many sacrifices our men and women in uniform continue to make to protect the freedoms that those Americans fought so tirelessly for 200 years ago. Our country is so great thanks to those throughout history who have stood up to safeguard our American values and the principles that define us as a country – and that’s our love for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I extend my sincere gratitude to veterans and all of those in the armed forces who give up so much so that we may continue to live in the freest nation on Earth.”
