Gardner Statement on Aurora VA Hospital

Washington, DC - Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO)released the following statement today on the state of the Aurora VA Hospital:

“Today’s announcement that a temporary deal has been reached to avert a work stoppage at the Aurora Veterans Affairs hospital is an important step forward. It gives members of Congress and the VA time to negotiate a permanent, long term solution. A project shutdown would cost taxpayers millions of dollars while continuing to delay the completion of this critical, needed facility.

“As a result of poor management by the VA, hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars have already been wasted. Veterans from Colorado and across the Rocky Mountain region have been left waiting. Colorado veterans deserve the world-class facility they were promised, and Congress and the VA should not rest until that goal is accomplished.”
