Gardner Meets with Governor Perry, Intended Secretary of Energy Nominee
Washington, DC – Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO), a member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, today met with Governor Rick Perry, President-elect Trump’s intended nominee for U.S. Secretary of Energy.
“I had a thoughtful discussion with Governor Perry and appreciate the opportunity to speak with him about his approach to responsible energy production and achieving America’s energy independence,” said Gardner. “We also discussed the importance of the Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) located in Colorado. NREL is instrumental in the advancement of the nation’s renewable energy and energy efficiency, and plays an important role in electrical grid modernization and protecting our grid from cybersecurity threats. Governor Perry is a proven leader who worked to bring jobs and economic growth to Texas, and I’m confident in his all-of-the-above energy strategy to lead the Department of Energy.”
Cory Gardner is a member of the U.S. Senate serving Colorado. He sits on the Energy & Natural Resources Committee, the Foreign Relations Committee, the Commerce, Science, & Transportation Committee, and the Budget Committee, and is the Chairman of the Subcommittee on East Asia, the Pacific, and International Cybersecurity Policy.
