Gardner Cheers Colorado Health Insurance Premiums Dropping More Than 20%

Reinsurance waiver Gardner helped secure lowers premium prices dramatically

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO) applauded the announcement today that health insurance premiums on the individual market will drop 20.2 percent across Colorado, due to the reinsurance waiver Gardner helped secure for the state. Colorado’s Western Slope, where families pay some of the highest health insurance premiums in the country, will see savings up to 34 percent.

“This is great news for the people of Colorado, and exactly why I worked with the Governor and federal officials to help secure this reinsurance waiver,” said Senator Gardner. “Because of this waiver, Colorado families will see immediate relief from high health insurance costs. Great things are possible for Coloradans when we work together.”

Gardner worked directly with Governor Polis and CMS Administrator Seema Verma to help secure the waiver’s approval.
