Gardner Celebrates US Beef Gaining Full Access to Japan

Washington, D.C. - Today, Senator Cory Gardner released the below statement following Agriculture Secretary Perdue’s announcement that U.S. beef has gained full access to Japanese markets. In his role as Chairman of the Foreign Relations Subcommittee on East Asia, the Pacific, and International Cybersecurity, Gardner has been urging the Japanese to open their markets to U.S. beef. In 2017, Colorado exported $372 million in beef.

“Today’s announcement is great news for Colorado’s beef industry,” said Senator Gardner. “Colorado is a top exporter of beef and our ranchers will be able to take advantage of this new market. I have long pushed for this move as Chairman of the East Asia Subcommittee, and I commend Secretary Perdue on getting this done. I look forward to the new economic opportunities for Colorado’s agriculture community.”
