Gardner, Bennet Introduce Resolution Celebrating Cheyenne Mountain’s 50th Anniversary
Washington, DC – Senators Cory Gardner (R-CO) and Michael Bennet (D-CO) introduced a Senate Resolution designating April 20, 2016 as Cheyenne Mountain Day to celebrate the facility’s 50th anniversary. Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station in Colorado Springs, Colorado is home to elements of North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), the 21st Space Wing, and the 721st Mission Support Group.
“For decades, the Cheyenne Mountain facility has played a vital role in our country’s national defense and I am proud to celebrate its 50th anniversary,” said Gardner. “It is an honor for the great state of Colorado to host such an important military operations center and I will continue to do everything I can to support the base, along with the uniformed service members and civilians who work at Cheyenne Mountain and sacrifice so much for our country.”
“Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station is critical to our homeland defense and global security,” Bennet said. “On April 20, we’ll celebrate the 50th anniversary of one of the country’s most vital national security assets. We’ll continue to do everything we can to support its missions and the men and women serving there.”
