Gardner Announces Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs Field Hearing
Washington, DC – Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO) announced today that the Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs will be holding a field hearing in Aurora on April 24th. The hearing, which will be held in the City Council Chamber at the Aurora Municipal Center, will begin at 1:30 p.m.
The hearing follows a letter sent by Senator Gardner and Senator Bennet in February, asking the Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs visit Aurora to see firsthand the consequences of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) mismanagement of the construction of this facility.
“The Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs needs to see for themselves what has been obvious to Coloradans for too long: that the VA is failing Colorado veterans with its terrible management of this project,” Gardner said. "This hospital needs to be completed, and the VA needs to be held accountable for the cost overruns and delays which have come at the expense of veterans in Colorado.
“I’ve been proud to work with the delegation on legislation that would reform the construction process at the Aurora hospital, and I’ll continue to press for legislative solutions. Hopefully, this Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs field hearing will bring even more much-needed attention to this facility."
