Gardner Announces Additional EPA Funds for Gold King Mine Spill Clean-Up Costs
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO) released the below statement after learning the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has provided an additional $63,406 to La Plata County for Gold King Mine spill clean-up costs.
“I welcome the news that the EPA will provide La Plata County with additional funding for the Gold King Mine spill clean-up costs, but I’m disappointed the EPA has yet to fully reimburse the county,” said Gardner. “While this is a step in the right direction, we must ensure all affected parties are fully reimbursed, and I will continue to advocate for my constituents in La Plata County and across Colorado who were affected by this disaster.”
- Gardner has previously called on the EPA to fully reimburse La Plata County for all costs associated with the Gold King Mine spill and is set to introduce legislation that would require it.
