Senator Gardner Denouncing the federal assault on the Colowyo Mine
Today, I took to the Senate floor to denounce the federal assault on the Colowyo Mine. I highlighted the over two hundred jobs supported by the mine, as well as the millions in state and federal tax dollars that the mine contributes. Closing the Colowyo Mine would raise energy prices in Colorado and also in neighboring states which participate in the energy cooperative which administers the mine. I also entered into the record several letters from Colorado officials, including John W. Hickenlooper, Congressman Scott Tipton and Congressman Ed Perlmutter, calling on the Interior Department to appeal the Court ruling that is endangering this important mine.
